Advanced CEREC Crown
Process
Prepare Tooth
- Prepare
Tooth for Permanent Crown Placement
- Reflective
powder layer prepares the tooth for imaging.
Prepare the Restoration
- An optical
3D image (impression without molds) is acquired with a small scanning camera,
directly in your mouth (only takes a few seconds – no gagging)
- Using
Computer Aided Design/ Computer Aided Manufacture (Cad/Cam), the
restoration is created on the screen using the image data.
- Dr.
Tall (not a lab technician from a mold) can then design the parameters of
the filling, how wide, how thick, the shape of the restoration.
- Once
the parameters are defined, diamond coated instruments linked to the
computer, mill a ceramic block to reproduce the design in about 20
minutes.
Fitting the Restoration
- After
polishing, the new restoration fits precisely.
- A
unique light hardens the bonding material, uniting porcelain and tooth
- Polishing
or glazing ensures a pleasantly smooth and natural feel
- The
color and appearance make the special ceramic material blend with your
tooth.
- Perfectly
bonded porcelain ensures and extremely long life for your teeth.

Permanent crowns are made out of a solid block of ceramic material.

With the CEREC system, Dr. Tall turns the ceramic block into a restoration that fits perfectly.
